Oldest friend (far right) came to visit. My first visitor at Mizzou in three years. Such an amazing weekend of bar hopping, magazine reading, funny show watching and movie line quoting.
It’s no secret Emily Schuman is a blog god. I absolutely adore everything she posts. Personally, as a struggling college student on a painfully limited budget, I love that her style is attainable, affordable and authentic to herself.
I enjoy reading Emily’s posts because she is effortlessly chic. She inspires me to believe that I too can emulate her certain je ne sais quoi.
As the first part of her blog suggests, Emily can cook. I, however, cannot and do not like to cook. More to the point, (because ‘like’ is too forgiving a word) I abhor cooking. Still, Emily enlivens my inner foodie, and somehow beguiles me into thinking “why can’t I?”
Consequently, sometime soon…this week preferably, more likely by the end of this semester…I plan to try Emily’s Blood Orange, Beet, and Fennel Salad because it’s too pretty to pass up.
Success or failure, the meal is sure to be a major.

It’s a Wonderful Life.
“We Are Young” Fun ft. Janelle Monae.
My finals anthem this year. I am quickly becoming obsessed with Fun. Other great songs by Fun: Carry On, All the Pretty Girls.
In other musical news, I am throughly looking forward to Lana Del Rey’s SNL performance on January 14, 2012.
Eat for the body you want, not the body you have.
This is what we, in the college world, like to refer to as “hell week”.
5 tests, 4 jobs, 3 meetings, 2 little time, and just 1 week.
Hell week calls for comfortable clothes, minimal thought and effort. I refer to this as high-efficiency dressing. Choosing outfits that are simple and require usually 3 pieces.
